THE PROBLEM
Winter Season = No Sales
When Black Friday 2019 came around, we were already working with Hinkle Hardscapes on their overall marketing strategy. When we asked if they had anything in mind for Black Friday, they said they never participated.
That’s because winter was NEVER their season to sell. The ground was always frozen come late November, and they couldn't build a pool if they wanted to until Spring.
They never thought a Black Friday Strategy would work for them.

Use Black Friday To Pre-Book
Even though Hinkle Hardscapes couldn’t break ground in November, we thought — why not use Black Friday as an opportunity to stock up pre-orders for Spring?
Instead of having a "dead season" and then rushing to collect sales come March, we crafted a Black Friday Strategy that would enable Hinkle Hardscapes to collect pre-orders and have a production queue ready to go by Springtime.
They decided to take a leap, and we got to work.
Hinkle Hardscapes’ complete Black Friday Strategy included the creation of a custom landing page with copy, an accompanying email campaign including build, copy, and launch, as well as advertisements to drive to the landing page.

Turns out, the non-traditional Black Friday Strategy didn’t just work, it REALLY worked.
The pre-order offer was compelling to Hinkle Hardscape customers for 2 big reasons:
- The timing could not have been better. A new pool or patio is an amazing present to give to the family over the holidays. Many thrilled customers put a Hinkle card with a photo in their family’s stocking to share their beautiful gift: “We’re getting a pool this summer!”
- With a “discounted” deposit broken up through the winter months, the Black Friday deal provided the most flexible payments available.
What resulted was the most profitable weekend Hinkle Hardscapes had ever experienced — making $100,000 in pre-orders alone!
They rolled into Spring revenue-positive with a full production queue.
And now, they have a solid Black Friday Strategy to keep the momentum going year after year.
